Spit braai

Allée Bleue celebrates summer with the launch of their traditional Sunday Spit Braais.

Situated on the beautiful lawns of the picturesque Estate and accompanied by live music this favourite South African pastime is sure to become a huge hit with locals and visitors to the Franschhoek Valley.

This is what I was told but never thought you could spent your whole Sunday, see the sun go down and still enjoy their wine on this picturesque Estate. With its great and well known picnic area next to the Manor House who could have asked for a more suitable location.

Starters are served buffet style and guests will enjoy Tomato with Mozzarella, Fresh Herb Terrine and Salmon Mousse. For the main course there is a delicious traditional spit braaied lamb and each week there will be revolving choice of beef, chicken or pork as an additional option. To accompany the two meat choices there are fresh salads, roasted vegetables, two styles of potatoes, rice and a selection of summer desserts!!

All sounded a bit to much but at the end a very well balanced menu at only R175 per person. A great past time with very traditional South African cuisine. Next Sunday remind me to take a camera?!!
